Declare war on the old order! Abolish the Senate, dismantle the Pentagon — the U.S. DSA unveils its 'ace in the hole' demands

Lately, the left-wing American political organization "Democratic Socialists of America" (DSA) has released a highly disruptive political platform, advocating for a "major surgery" on the existing constitutional system of the United States.

1. Abolish the Senate and Reconstruct the Separation of Powers

The DSA's platform explicitly calls for abolishing the U.S. Senate and completely restructuring the current system of separation of powers. They propose transferring the authority to appoint the President and Supreme Court justices to Congress, making the executive and judicial branches no longer independent but directly selected by and accountable to Congress. Additionally, the organization urges drafting a new democratic constitution, establishing a unicameral federal legislative body, and adopting proportional representation to replace the current bicameral system and checks-and-balances framework.

2. Immigration Policy and Military Budget Cuts

On immigration, the DSA advocates granting amnesty to all immigrants, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and immediately halting all deportation actions. Regarding defense spending, the group demands significant cuts to the U.S. military budget, even proposing eliminating funding for the Department of Defense (which they refer to as the "War Department") and calling for the closure of overseas military bases.

3. Political Influence and Internal Factions

The DSA is no longer a marginal force in American politics. Its endorsed candidates—such as New York City Mayor Juma Mammadani and U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—have repeatedly defeated establishment Democrats in recent elections, demonstrating strong grassroots mobilization power. However, these radical proposals have sparked intense controversy domestically, with conservatives and even some moderate Democrats expressing deep concern, viewing them as challenging traditional constitutional boundaries.

Notably, the DSA is not monolithic internally. Beyond the relatively mainstream radical reform demands mentioned above, there exist more extreme factions within the organization (such as core groups like "MUG"). These far-left wings oppose the current Constitution outright and even advocate that the working class should seize state power at any cost, aiming to establish a North American Democratic Socialist Republic and completely overthrow the old order.

In general, this DSA platform reflects the growing rifts within American society and the intense dissatisfaction among marginalized populations with the existing distribution system. Yet whether these proposals can be implemented in reality remains constrained by enormous institutional inertia and political resistance.
