Trump's Regulatory Push for Palestinian Reforms, International Community Approves Gaza Peace Plan

On the 17th, the UN Security Council passed a resolution drafted by the United States with 13 votes in favor and 0 against, in the absence of China and Russia, authorizing the establishment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF) to provide security for the Gaza region. At the same time, the resolution approved the establishment of a transitional authority led by US President Trump, laying a political and governance path for the future establishment of a Palestinian state. Israel welcomed this, and the Palestinian Authority also stated that this would be an important step towards peace.

Most Countries Support, US-Backed "Gaza Comprehensive Plan" Becomes Security Council Resolution

The core content of the resolution is to fully implement the "Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict" proposed by the Trump administration, with goals including consolidating the ceasefire, restoring humanitarian aid, promoting reconstruction and economic recovery. It is reported that the US has gained support from many Arab and Muslim-majority countries. Qatar, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Turkey issued a joint statement, clearly supporting the resolution.

Establishing a "Peace Committee" with Trump as Chairman

The resolution proposes establishing an "International Peace Committee" with international legal status as a transitional administrative body for Gaza, with Trump serving as chairman, responsible for supervising the Palestinian Authority's efforts to advance reforms, enabling it to safely and stably regain control over the Gaza area, and laying the foundation for the Palestinians' self-determination and statehood.

At the same time, the Security Council authorized the establishment of an International Stabilization Force, which will work in coordination with Israel, Egypt, and newly trained Palestinian police forces under the command of the Peace Committee, and is responsible for:

Ensuring border security

Advancing regional demilitarization

Protecting local civilians

Guaranteeing the safety of humanitarian aid corridors

The Peace Committee and stabilization forces will be subject to international supervision and must submit progress reports to the Security Council every six months. The relevant authorization will be valid until the end of 2027.

American Side: A Historic Moment, Moving Toward Long-Term Regional Peace

Trump posted on social media that the vote "acknowledges and supports the Peace Committee I chair, one of the most significant approvals in UN history, bringing more peace to the world." US Ambassador to the UN Wald said the resolution was a "major breakthrough," helping Gaza achieve prosperity and create a long-term secure environment for Israel.

Palestinian Authority Welcomes, Hamas Strongly Displeased

The Palestinian Authority welcomed the passage of the resolution and stated its willingness to fully cooperate with the US, Security Council members, Arab and Islamic countries, the EU, etc., to implement the resolution's content, end the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, and promote the political process, implementing the "two-state solution" within the framework of international law.

However, the resolution explicitly excluded the Palestinian militant group Hamas from participating in any Gaza governance structure. Hamas immediately expressed strong dissatisfaction, criticizing the resolution for "failing to respond to the political and humanitarian rights of the Palestinian people." (Rural Cat)
