Central Asian Critical Minerals: Kyrgyzstan Develops a Strategy for the Exploitation of 22 Critical Minerals
Bishkek, July 16 - Kabar News Agency - The Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan, Medzhel Masyev, stated in an interview with Kabar News Agency that Kyrgyzstan is developing its own strategy for critical minerals, which will cover 22 types of minerals.
"Currently, countries around the world are approving such strategies. This mainly targets minerals with limited reserves. We have also developed our own strategy. It is currently under approval, mainly targeting rare earth elements and polymetallics with limited global reserves," said Masyev.
In March this year, the presidential office of Kyrgyzstan had already discussed this concept. The draft concept outlines solutions aimed at creating conditions for sustainable development of the industry and expanding international cooperation.
Prime Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Adelbek Kassymaliyev, stated at the meeting: "Critical minerals are a key factor in technological and economic development. In the era of the global transition to renewable energy, digital transformation, and high-tech development, Kyrgyzstan should occupy its rightful place in the value chain."
