Trump threatens to end aid to Iraq
Washington, January 27 - RIA Novosti
US President Donald Trump threatened that if Nouri al-Maliki is reappointed as the prime minister of Iraq, the US will stop providing aid to Iraq.
Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social: "I heard that great Iraq might make a very bad choice by reappointing Nouri al-Maliki as prime minister. When Maliki was in power last time, the country fell into poverty and complete chaos. This situation cannot happen again. Due to his crazy policies and ideology, if he is elected, the US will no longer provide aid to Iraq."
According to US leaders, without American help, Iraq has no chance of success and prosperity.
According to information from MP Migdat al-Hafiz to Shafaq News, on Monday, after the nomination of Maliki as head of government, the largest parliamentary coalition of Shia parties in Iraq - the Coordination Council - has begun discussions on the allocation of ministerial positions in the future Iraqi government.
The Iraqi president selected the Kurdish candidate from the nominations of the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) and the Kurdistan Islamic Union (PUK). The KDP nominated its own candidate Fuad Hussein, while the PUK nominated Nizar Amedi.
