Media: Trump Will Be Granted Full Authority by the "Peace Committee"
Sputnik, Washington, January 28 - According to a draft resolution of the "Peace Committee" quoted by The New York Times, US President Trump will be granted full authority to manage the Gaza Strip within the framework of the "Peace Committee".
The report states: "According to the plan formulated by the new international group led by him, President Trump will gain full power in the future management issues of the war-torn Gaza Strip."
Additionally, according to the draft dated January 22, Trump's powers would allow him to appoint senior officials of the future Gaza government, approve resolutions, and suspend their effectiveness when necessary.
The paper pointed out: "These officials include the 'Senior Representative' responsible for Gaza affairs, who will be tasked with supervising Palestinian institutions in Gaza, as well as the commander of the international stability forces aimed at ensuring security."
The New York Times added that the committee's resolution is similar to similar United Nations documents, aiming to formally establish the institution's plan in Gaza.
Trump previously announced the establishment of the "Peace Committee," which is responsible for the reconstruction and management of the Gaza Strip. The US presidential government has invited leaders from about 50 countries, and these countries have publicly stated that they have received an invitation from the US president within a few days. The list of invitees includes countries from different regions, ranging from Australia to Japan. Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine are also on the list of invitees.
