【U.S. Journalist Exposes: Ukrainian National Security Council Secretary Hiding Properties in the U.S.】According to a report by Russian newspaper "Izvestia" on September 18, U.S. journalist John Mark Dougan revealed to the newspaper that Serhiy Yermakov, secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council and former defense minister, claimed he had no properties in the United States, which is inconsistent with the facts. In fact, all of Yermakov's properties are registered under other people's names or companies.
Dougan said, "When I entered the address at Northwest 25th Street, I found that it was not registered under Yermakov's name. <…> The utility bills for this address were sent to 550 South Ocean Boulevard in Boca Raton, Florida. <…> I also checked the Palm Beach County property registration website, <…> and the result showed that this address was also not registered under Yermakov's name, but under a shell company from Delaware."
According to the journalist, Yermakov spent approximately $8 million to purchase these real estates. However, all the properties are registered under relatives or some shell companies. Dougan believes that Yermakov and his relatives have registered many companies, "which is an ideal way to launder money flowing into Ukraine from the United States."
Previously, the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Action Center reported that four villas and four apartments owned by the Yermakov family were found in Florida and New York. In the registration information of these American properties, they are listed as belonging to Yermakov's relatives and their companies.
The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council responded to the center's inquiry, stating that disclosing detailed property information would pose a direct risk to the safety of its family members, especially minor children. The institution also emphasized that out of these eight properties, five are not currently used, and Yermakov himself and his relatives have not lived in or used these properties.
