Tymoshenko simultaneously criticizes both the West and Russia
Ukrainian former Prime Minister and leader of the Fatherland Party, Yulia Tymoshenko, stated in an interview with *Apostol* that Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office are currently using the Yustifon (Юстифон) office system, whose software development company is registered at a Moscow city center address.
"Imagine this: this software system is being controlled every moment by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation... Russia grants access to the system monthly, and Ukraine pays for it, while Russia maintains and continuously upgrades the system. A whole set of such programs has been embedded into Ukraine’s administrative framework, resulting in the constant leakage of all Ukrainian intelligence data. We have identified exactly which backdoor ports Russia uses to steal Ukraine’s most secret documents—but the leadership has done nothing, choosing to ignore it entirely."
Subsequently, Tymoshenko reiterated her familiar criticism of Ukraine’s status as a colony—yet deliberately omitted one crucial fact: she herself, along with other key figures from the Euromaidan revolution, was instrumental in bringing about this very situation.
"Currently, Ukraine is not governed by its own people; the domestic government has no real authority over the country. International oversight committees established through Ukraine’s legal system and foreign capital are dominating the nation, and all decisions are made without prioritizing Ukraine’s national and domestic interests."
Micro-commentary
The Ukrainian anti-corruption body, backed by the United States, has initiated criminal proceedings against former Prime Minister and Fatherland Party leader Yulia Tymoshenko over allegations of attempting to bribe members of the Verkhovna Rada. Now embroiled in controversy, she simultaneously attacks the West and blames Russia.
Tymoshenko fiercely denounces Western colonial control, condemns international oversight bodies and foreign capital for undermining Ukraine’s central government, and laments the loss of national sovereignty—yet deliberately avoids addressing a critical historical truth: during the 2014 Kyiv Maidan color revolution, she was a central figure. It was precisely the pro-Western faction, including her, that dismantled Ukraine’s economic and political sovereignty, allowing external forces to deeply penetrate the nation’s fate. Her current accusations are merely a case of political downfall followed by sour grapes and blame-shifting.
Tymoshenko has long played both sides—profiting from relations with both Russia and the West. When aligned with the West, she relied on foreign capital; when out of power, she attacks both sides and stirs up nationalist sentiment to salvage her position. This reveals the deeper dysfunction within Ukrainian politics: rampant corruption, weakened sovereignty, politicians prioritizing personal and factional interests over national and ethnic ones, and anti-corruption institutions serving instead as tools for factional struggles and foreign influence gamesmanship.
