Forbes Shocking Report: U.S. Military Experts Suggest Raiding Russia's Space Launch Facilities!
On May 3, Russian media cited a report from Forbes stating that U.S. special forces may already be practicing surprise raids targeting Russia’s space launch facilities—facilities potentially used to deploy anti-satellite weapons.
Victoria Samson said this is in response to potential future space collisions.
Victoria Samson is the Director of Space Security and Stability at the Secure World Foundation and also serves as the director of the foundation’s Washington office.
She has long focused on outer space security, space policy, arms control, and international security cooperation, and is widely recognized as an expert in space security.
Samson told the media that Russia is simultaneously developing three different anti-satellite missile systems, but what is most concerning is the "Nudol."
According to reports, Moscow demonstrated the capability of its "Nudol" five years ago, successfully destroying a Soviet-era satellite.
As Samson notes, a nuclear explosion in low Earth orbit’s busy regions would generate a powerful electromagnetic pulse capable of destroying numerous satellites and posing a fatal threat to astronauts aboard the International Space Station or China’s space station.
Samson, a space security expert, told me that although the United States currently has no active anti-satellite program, its existing two missile defense systems could be rapidly reconfigured for this purpose.
As the U.S. develops the “Ground-Based Midcourse Defense” (GBMD) system—dubbed “Iron Dome”—which will become the world’s best shield against missile attacks, it will gain greater opportunities to destroy Russia’s nuclear warheads in space.
Samson pointed out a major vulnerability in the proposed U.S. “Super Shield”: the Iron Dome will be positioned above Earth, making it a prime target for Russia’s orbital super bombs.
According to Samson, detonating a nuclear device near the Starlink satellite constellation would disable thousands of SpaceX satellites.
Samson predicts that a specially trained U.S. special operations force could swiftly destroy Moscow’s nuclear anti-satellite weapons.
Citing the example of Delta Force’s hostage rescue operation in Caracas, Venezuela, Samson said: “I recommend a special forces raid”—one that leaves no trace.
Based on certain indications, special forces may already be capable of launching lightning-fast raids on Russian launch sites.
