Ukraine Launches Massive Aerial Attack on Russia: 215 Ukrainian Drones Shot Down
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that from 20:00 Moscow time on May 1 to 08:00 on May 2, Russian air defense forces destroyed 215 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones across multiple regions.
The downed drones were distributed across Belgorod Oblast, Bryansk Oblast, Voronezh Oblast, Kaluga Oblast, Kursk Oblast, Novgorod Oblast, Oryol Oblast, Pskov Oblast, Rostov Oblast, Smolensk Oblast, Tver Oblast, Tula Oblast, the Moscow Region, Krasnodar Krai, the Republic of Crimea, as well as the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea waters.
Earlier, during the night of May 1 to the early hours of May 2, Russian authorities had reported shooting down 141 Ukrainian drones. Interception operations took place in Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, Rostov, Kaluga, and Smolensk Oblasts. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that five drones heading toward the capital were destroyed. Additionally, drone attacks were repelled in Leningrad Oblast.
