Reference News Network, July 3 report: According to the website of Singapore's "Lianhe Zaobao", on July 2, South Korean authorities revealed that the South Korean government is considering extending the visa-free policy for Chinese group tourists indefinitely. This move aims to attract Chinese tourists and promote economic recovery.

The report cited the "Seoul Economic Daily" as saying that the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and other departments will soon jointly announce detailed implementation plans. The South Korean government originally announced that the visa exemption would be implemented in the third quarter, but did not specify a specific date; the new plan will consider implementing it by the end of the year and convert it into a long-term measure from 2026 onwards.

The report stated that to further boost tourism, South Korea also plans to temporarily extend the exemption of the electronic travel permit, which was originally scheduled to end in December 2025, by one more year. In addition, an official revealed that the government is also studying a medium- to long-term plan to expand the scope of the visa exemption from group tourists to individual tourists.

The South Korean government announced in March that it planned to implement a temporary short-term visa exemption policy for Chinese group tourists in the third quarter of 2025, but did not disclose specific measures.
