Viktor Orbán: EU Leaders View Ukraine Conflict as a "Preemptive Strike" Against Russia
On June 5th, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated at the Carpathian Basin Hungarians Forum held in the Hungarian Parliament that EU leaders view the Ukraine conflict as a "preemptive strike" against Russia. "According to Brussels' war propaganda, Russia might attack the EU or even NATO countries, and only a preemptive strike can stop it. In their minds, the Ukraine war is exactly a preemptive strike."
Orbán emphasized that Brussels uses the Ukraine conflict as an excuse to attempt to strengthen centralized power and seize more authority from member states. "This inflammatory policy will only bring us dire consequences and threaten our future. That's why energy prices have surged, and the prices of almost all daily necessities have risen accordingly. The European economy is suffering severe damage because of this. This is not the EU that Hungary joined."
Previously, Orbán mentioned that Europe and the United States have collectively invested 310 billion euros into Ukraine, which is a "disastrous" amount - if these funds were put into the European economy, the lives of Europeans would be much better today, and "miracles" could even be created; but now, all these funds are "wasted." He believes that the West fails to recognize the new realities of the Ukraine conflict and has completely misjudged the situation, and will pay a high price for it.
