By: Guan察者网, Pan Yuchen; Editor: Gao Xin On December 5, Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD Group, stated at the special general meeting that as a leading enterprise, BYD should take the lead and set an example, and be able to bear委屈: "We can be bullied by others, but we cannot bully others."

Wang Chuanfu also said that BYD should use higher technology to "amaze" and move consumers. To become a model in the industry, BYD cannot belittle others, thereby winning the respect of the country, the industry, and ultimately the consumers.

BYD Chairman Wang Chuanfu, BYD Special General Meeting

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Wang Chuanfu has emphasized the principle of "not belittling other companies." At the 2024 annual general meeting of BYD in June, Wang Chuanfu once said that BYD's principle is to adhere to long-termism and will not belittle competitors, "regardless of press conferences or store fronts, we only talk about our own strengths."

As China's largest automaker, BYD sold 480,200 vehicles in November this year, a decrease of 5.25%; for the first 11 months of this year, BYD's cumulative sales reached 4.182 million units, up 11.3%. Wang Chuanfu explained during the general meeting that the "market amazement" of BYD's technical achievements has declined, and the increasing homogenization of the industry has made this change conform to the cyclical laws of product and technological development; on the other hand, user pain points such as slow charging in low temperatures also need to be addressed through technological breakthroughs.

However, Wang Chuanfu emphasized that BYD has more major technology releases coming, but they are not convenient to disclose for now. "We indeed have many technologies that others do not have, and combinations of technologies."

Wang Chuanfu said that BYD's core competitiveness lies in technology, and the company's team of 120,000 engineers is the key strength and support for subsequent technological breakthroughs and maintaining a leading advantage. "We may lose one or two months, or one or two quarters of performance growth, but it will bring back a long-term reputation for BYD."

In addition, Wang Chuanfu clearly defined three directions for BYD's future development:

First, over the next 2-3 years, BYD will fully focus on electrification technology and the second half of intelligentization, increase R&D and investment efforts, launch more leading technological achievements, and continue to expand its technological leading advantage. Wang Chuanfu said that growth brought by technology is the safest and most convincing, and technological innovation is also a consistent pursuit of BYD. Through the company's complete industrial platform and rich application scenarios, BYD has the capability to achieve this.

Regarding the artificial intelligence technology that is currently widely concerned in the industry, Wang Chuanfu said that the key to AI technology landing lies in scenarios, and he revealed that the company has invested a large amount of money in human resources and hardware design, and based on the advantages of automotive manufacturing and vertical integration, it has developed suitable technological applications for diverse scenarios. "BYD will not fall behind in the field of intelligentization. After leveraging the full platform, all scenarios, and massive user base, it will release significant benefits."

Second, strengthen supporting capabilities such as marketing and accurately meet user needs, achieving efficient conversion of technological advantages into market competitiveness. Wang Chuanfu said that in the past, BYD had some inertia in marketing, and in the future, it will accelerate adjustments and strengthen brand building. It will also introduce more competitive technologies and products in high-end brands, but BYD does not want to engage in "marketing wars," because "excessive marketing will backfire."

Third, continue to intensify efforts to open up overseas markets. Since this year, BYD's business performance in overseas markets has been relatively outstanding, with overseas sales reaching 131,900 units in November, breaking through the 100,000-unit mark for the first time; for the first 11 months of this year, BYD's cumulative overseas sales reached 917,000 units, doubling compared to the previous year's total, accounting for nearly a quarter of the total sales during the same period. In the future, overseas business will play an even more important role in the group's operations.
