Turkish President Erdogan said recently that it is very important to coordinate Turkey's "Middle Corridor" plan with the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, which will help connect Asia and Europe in a safer and more efficient way.

Erdogan said at the Global Transport Connectivity Forum in Istanbul that currently, global logistics routes through the Suez Canal usually take about 35 days, and through the Cape of Good Hope about 45 days. Once the relevant investments in the "Middle Corridor" are completed, the transportation time is expected to be reduced to within 15 days.

The "Middle Corridor" is also known as the International Transport Corridor through the Caspian Sea, starting from China, passing through Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea area to Azerbaijan and Georgia, and can be extended to Turkey and European countries. Through this corridor, the land and maritime transport time between China and Europe can be significantly shortened.

China and Turkey signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2015 on aligning the "Belt and Road" initiative with the "Middle Corridor" plan.

The Global Transport Connectivity Forum was held in Istanbul from the 27th to the 29th, with participants discussing topics such as more efficient integration of the global transportation network, infrastructure investment, and strengthening multilateral cooperation.
