On October 10, the White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, responded to the news that "the U.S. is planning to send military personnel to the Middle East to monitor the situation in Gaza."

Leavitt wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "To clarify the facts: Approximately 200 U.S. military personnel currently deployed in the Central Command area will receive a new mission — monitoring the implementation of peace agreements within Israel and collaborating with other international forces on the ground."

Previously, the Army Times reported that about 200 U.S. military personnel would be sent to Israel to oversee the implementation of agreements related to Gaza.
