American Special Envoy on Ukraine-Russia Issue: Trump Authorized Ukraine to Strike Deep into Russia
U.S. President's Special Representative Keith Kellogg stated in an interview with Fox News that Donald Trump allowed Ukraine to use long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory.
Kellogg, when answering the host's question about whether Kyiv had received White House approval, said, "I think, considering his (Donald Trump) statements, as well as those of Vice President Vance and Secretary Rubio, the answer is yes: take the opportunity for deep strikes."
The envoy added that "there are no untouchable places" in Russia. However, Kellogg did not specify whether he was referring to attacks using American weapons. Meanwhile, he speculated that Vladimir Zelenskyy's request for the transfer of "Tomahawk" long-range missiles to Kyiv might be related to this.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing U.S. government and Kyiv sources, that Trump expressed an open attitude toward lifting restrictions on the use of U.S. long-range weapons to strike deep into Russian territory during a meeting in New York with Zelenskyy, but did not make a direct commitment to revise the current restrictions.
According to the Wall Street Journal, during the meeting, the Ukrainian side also raised the issue of supplying "Tomahawk" cruise missiles with a range of 1,500 kilometers. It is reported that the U.S. government is considering this possibility, with alternative options including providing more Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS). Vance commented on the situation, stating that the relevant decision would be made by the head of state.
Russia believes that supplying weapons to Ukraine hinders the mediation of the situation, directly involving NATO member states in the conflict, which is "playing with fire." Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov previously stated that any material containing weapons supplied to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. He said that the U.S. and NATO are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict, not only supplying weapons but also training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin previously stated that Western supplies of weapons to Ukraine do not help negotiations and have negative consequences.
