Trump: Under the framework of the U.S.-Iran agreement, Iran will commit to not developing nuclear weapons
U.S. President Trump said that under the framework of a deal reached between the U.S. and Iran, Iran will commit to not developing nuclear weapons.
Trump told reporters: "The most important thing for me is that Iran will finally not have or purchase nuclear weapons." He added that Iran appears to have agreed to this point.
Trump said: "This will be a very detailed memorandum of understanding."
When asked whether sanctions would be lifted immediately after the agreement is signed, Trump replied: "Yes, that's part of the deal."
He believes that after the agreement with Iran is signed, oil prices will drop below pre-conflict levels.
In a post on the social media platform "Truth Social," Trump wrote: "The final terms of the agreement have been agreed upon by all participating parties— including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt—in both general and specific details."
Trump wrote: "The time and location for signing the agreement with Iran will be announced soon."
U.S. President Trump posted on social media on the 11th that, given the outcomes of negotiations with Iran have been submitted to and approved by Iran’s highest leadership, he has canceled the previously scheduled "severe strike" against Iran set for that evening.
Later that evening at an event held at the White House, Trump stated that an "excellent agreement" had been reached on the Iranian issue, adding that the relevant documents are in the final drafting stage and are expected to be finalized within the coming days. He also mentioned that the agreement might be signed in Europe, possibly this weekend, with U.S. Vice President Vance attending.
