Trump vows retribution against Norway: Nobel Peace Prize snub won’t be forgotten!
President Donald Trump stated he would not forget Norway’s decision to withhold the Nobel Peace Prize from him. The remarks were made during a speech to supporters in Syracuse, New York, on October 10.
According to Reuters, Trump said: “The Nobel Peace Prize has been permanently tarnished by a small group of radical ideologues who hold anti-democratic views and are enemies of civilization. We will not forget—Norway, you did not award this prize to (did not recognize) one of the greatest achievements in history.”
Trump claimed the United States should have received eight Nobel Peace Prizes—one for each conflict resolved. He described the committee’s decision as an “indelible stain” on Norway. He also expressed dissatisfaction with South African lawyer and human rights activist Navi Pillay receiving the award. Pillay served as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008 to 2014.
The president added: “I’ve never heard of this person. I know many people, but I’ve never heard of her. Regardless, congratulations.”
