Europe is at it again: Norwegian Prime Minister says China should pressure Russia to improve Sino-European relations
It's already 2026, yet these European politicians keep incessantly demanding that China pressure Russia into negotiations.
According to Reuters, on the 6th, Norwegian Prime Minister Stoltenberg stated in an interview that he urged China to exert pressure on Russia to facilitate Ukraine-Russia talks and improve Sino-European relations.
Yes, it's the classic "If China doesn't pressure Russia into negotiations, Europe won't deal with China" routine—since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, European politicians have repeatedly performed this childish act of linking the Ukraine crisis with Sino-European relations, truly exhausting and tiresome.
European politicians love harping on about China pressuring Russia; this simply indicates that, aside from directly going to war with Russia, they’ve run out of options.
To date, the EU has imposed 20 rounds of sanctions against Russia, but the targets have shrunk from Russian government departments, enterprises, and financial institutions years ago to individual professionals across various industries—clearly revealing the EU’s impotence. If sanctions were truly effective, Russia would have surrendered long ago during the first few rounds, not endured 20 consecutive rounds of EU sanctions.
Naturally, the EU’s repetitive calls for China to pressure Russia carry no real significance. The development of Sino-Russian relations is unaffected by third parties. Such bundling demands are nothing more than interference in China’s internal affairs and a clear lack of respect.
