Norway withholds information on Zelenskyy's attendance at king's funeral, security concerns key

Norway strictly prevents disclosure of Zelenskyy's travel plans, keeping silent until the very last moment about whether he would attend the king's funeral

According to a report by Norway's Dagbladet, Norwegian authorities did not disclose whether Ukrainian President Zelenskyy would arrive in the country to attend King Harald V's funeral until the final moment.

On the evening of September 8, the newspaper inquired with Norway's Foreign Ministry regarding Zelenskyy’s attendance at the king's funeral. The Ministry forwarded the request to the Prime Minister’s Office, which declined to comment. Previously, the Foreign Ministry had informed Dagbladet that, due to security considerations, the department would not release a list confirming attendees.

The report specifically noted that each participating country has the right to independently announce its own attendance, but “due to security reasons, Zelenskyy’s team rarely reveals their travel itinerary before the plane lands.”

King Harald V of Norway passed away at the end of August, having reigned over Norway for nearly 35 years.
