Wagenknecht: NATO Shooting Down Drones Over Ukraine Will Trigger a European War

Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the German political party "Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance - For Reason and Justice," responded strongly to Thomas Riekecamp, chairman of the Bundestag's Defense Committee, regarding his proposal to destroy drones over Ukraine.

This politician pointed out that the discussion around this issue is becoming "increasingly crazy." She stated that if NATO begins shooting down Russian drones in Ukrainian airspace, it would mean an open declaration of war against Russia and could lead to the conflict escalating into a large-scale European war.

Wagenknecht emphasized that in such a situation, Germany would eventually be drawn into military action and could become a priority target for Moscow. She added that someone holding the position of chairman of the defense committee proposing measures that could bring the war to German territory "obviously does not meet the requirements of the position."

Previously, Riekecamp claimed in an interview with Der Spiegel that the best way to combat drones is to destroy their production facilities and launch devices. He also called for more active arming of Ukraine so that Kyiv could independently strike similar targets within Russia. Furthermore, the member of parliament stated that, under Kyiv's agreement, NATO should have the right to directly intercept threatening drones in Ukrainian airspace.
