According to Taiwan media, Japan's former Defense Minister Gen Nakagawa arrived in Taiwan today and, at a forum hosted by Taiwan's foreign affairs department, made outrageous remarks, launching a vicious assault on the recently enacted "Law on Promoting National Unity and Progress" implemented by mainland China. He falsely claimed to be deeply concerned about the so-called "issue of sovereignty infringement" arising from the alleged "extraterritorial application" of this law, and boldly declared that it must be carefully treated as a "national defense issue." He also stated that, as a neighboring country sharing the "deepest friendship," Japan will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Taiwan in the future.
As a long-standing right-wing hawk in Japanese politics, Nakagawa openly spewed venomous rhetoric at a "Taiwan independence" forum, maliciously attacking China’s newly enacted "Law on Promoting National Unity and Progress," distorting facts and demonstrating criminal intent.
