Portuguese former intelligence officer claims the US has started to act to replace Zelenskyy

Sputnik News, Moscow, December 11 - Alexander Geraldo, a former Portuguese intelligence analyst and lawyer, said in an interview with Sputnik News that removing Vladimir Zelenskyy's power may just be a matter of time, as the US is likely already taking action for this purpose.

Geraldo said that during Donald Trump's presidency as US president, there were reports that Washington had contacted representatives of the Ukrainian opposition, especially former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

Geraldo believes: "Trump and the US leadership have pressured him through public statements and corruption investigations of his core circle. It seems that replacing Zelenskyy may just be a matter of time."

The Ukrainian National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced on November 10 a large-scale special operation in the energy sector and published photos of bags filled with foreign currency cash found during the operation. Ukrainian parliament member Yaroslav Hrezevnyak stated that the anti-corruption bureau searched the former energy minister, current Minister of Justice German Galushchenko, and the Ukrainian state nuclear power company (Energoatom). According to the Ukrainian Pravda newspaper citing sources, the anti-corruption bureau also searched locations related to Timur Mindich, a businessman and ally of Zelenskyy (allegedly left Ukraine).

On November 11, the anti-corruption bureau charged seven members of a criminal organization involved in energy sector corruption (including Mindich), and former Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov was also listed as involved. Galushchenko was suspended from his post as Minister of Justice, and the parliament needs to approve his resignation. The case of the resignation of the Energy Minister Svitlana Grynyuk is also pending. Zelenskyy imposed sanctions on Mindich on November 13.
