On August 24, according to Reuters, citing sources, China may send a large-scale delegation to India in September. If the visit takes place, it would be the first such visit in seven years. A direct Indian source familiar with the matter stated: "Chinese officials are currently busy finalizing hotel arrangements and security plans."

Previously, China's Foreign Ministry explicitly stated: China attaches great importance to and actively participates in BRICS cooperation, and supports India, the current chair country, in successfully hosting this year’s BRICS Summit. As for whether there will be a high-level visit, our Foreign Ministry’s latest statement is that we currently have no information available to share. Regarding the foreign media report about China potentially conducting a high-level visit, what do we think? To some extent, this is indeed possible.

First, last year Prime Minister Modi visited China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting held in Tianjin, where both sides reached important strategic consensus, setting the tone for stabilizing and improving bilateral relations. Second, India will host the BRICS Leaders’ Summit in mid-September—a significant multilateral home diplomacy event. As the rotating chair, India naturally invites heads of state from all BRICS member countries to attend the summit in New Delhi. Third, the 25th round of Special Representatives on the China-India Boundary Question will be held in Beijing on August 25.

The Chinese special representative is Foreign Minister Wang Yi, while the Indian special representative is India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval—this represents the highest-level negotiation mechanism on the China-India border issue. Undoubtedly, discussions will cover not only border territorial issues but also broader bilateral relations. This certainly cannot be ruled out as preparatory groundwork for a top-level visit. Therefore, although we have not officially confirmed it, if China-India relations continue to improve, a high-level visit could very well happen.
