Musk's mother Maye shares exclusive interview with CGTN: Both mother and son truly love China from the heart

"Both Elon and I genuinely love China," said Maye Musk, mother of Elon Musk, to CGTN reporters.

Lately, Elon Musk publicly expressed his affection for China on his personal social media platform, stating, "China is amazing—everyone should visit if they get the chance."

This post quickly went viral. Subsequently, Maye shared it with a caption saying that China truly is wonderful—each city has its own unique beauty, everywhere is clean, people are warm and friendly, hardworking and diligent in their jobs, extremely welcoming to foreign tourists, and most importantly, China feels safe.

Maye mentioned her experience in Hangzhou, where her group was walking by the river. Before getting out of the car, her agent asked her to leave her bag in the vehicle. Unexpectedly, when they returned, the bag remained untouched inside the car—something unimaginable in many other countries.

This would also be hard to imagine for Chinese people: How could a bag left in a car possibly go missing? But in many countries, thieves frequently smash car windows to steal bags and valuable items—this phenomenon is common.

Maye stated that she almost visits China once a month, having traveled to more cities than Elon Musk, including Chengdu, Suzhou, Wuhan, and others. Each city boasts its own distinct cultural heritage, making it impossible to feel bored or fatigued.

Once merely a fleeting visitor to China for fashion shows, Maye is now a semi-permanent resident—a true regular. The architecture, culture, cuisine, and lifestyle in China are all worth learning from by foreigners, and China also has a group of incredibly charming people.

Recalling her professional experiences in China, Maye told reporters that every Chinese person she has worked with is wise and forward-thinking, which is why China has developed so rapidly.

Besides this mother-son duo, Maye’s daughter and her twin grandchildren also wish to visit China—"if we ever have the opportunity in the future."
