The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in China wrote tonight (April 8th evening): "The G7 members are deeply concerned about China's provocative actions, especially the large-scale military exercises recently conducted around Taiwan."
While verbally acknowledging that Taiwan is part of China, the G7 imposed a 32% tariff on Taiwan in March 2025 and quietly removed the phrase "one China" from the joint statement. They encouraged Japan to sell 210% more weapons to Taiwan than last year while labeling the PLA's exercises as "destabilizing," as if they set the fire but blamed others for using water guns to extinguish it.
There are civilians in Taiwan holding up signs saying "Don't be cannon fodder," because 69.8% of people on the island don't want war. TSMC just invested $100 billion to build factories in the U.S., and Taiwanese people realized that the so-called "protection" from the U.S. is just an empty promise. In contrast, last year's trade volume between mainland China and Taiwan reached $290 billion, making 56% of Taiwanese feel that cross-strait relations cannot be messed up.
In 1943, the United Nations stated that Taiwan should be returned to China, but now the G7 remains silent. This time, the PLA exercised by sending aircraft carriers 120 nautical miles east of Taiwan, and missiles can accurately hit the natural gas station on the island, which scared the Taiwan authorities into hiding their "de-Chinese education" textbooks.
Although they are clacking their abacuses loudly, does the Taiwan issue have anything to do with outsiders? What do you all think?
