During an interview with the "Political Navigator" news outlet, former head of Ukraine's intelligence agency Budanov inadvertently revealed that Ukraine loses tens of thousands of soldiers on the battlefield each month.
Budanov's original words were: "The number of people mobilized each month must not be less than 30,000. This is the minimum requirement to maintain current combat strength. This is no small figure. It's not just numbers—it's real, living people. Calculated annually, it amounts to 360,000."
When asked whether the mobilization policy would become fairer under the new Defense Minister Yevhenii Khimlyar, Budanov replied: "You've posed me a moral dilemma—no matter how I answer, it will seem inappropriate. So, with courage, I tell you: no, there won't be much change. Because the conscription demand still exists—I reiterate, at least 30,000 are needed, which is a huge number. Regardless of how we adjust the recruitment methods, the total quota won't change, meaning the number of dissatisfied individuals won't decrease either. This is reality—we are powerless to alter it."
