Indian blogger: Russia proposes joint development of advanced aero engines, "Kaveri" project may be revived.
On July 16, an Indian blogger stated that India's next-generation air power strategy might be entering its most critical phase so far. According to reports, Russia has proposed to India a collaborative effort to develop its advanced 177S engine technology for the future AMCA Mk2 fighter, while also suggesting the production of Su-57E stealth fighters in India as a transitional capability for the Indian Air Force.
Meanwhile, India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is preparing to revive the long-awaited "Kaveri" engine project, which could potentially end India’s decades-long reliance on imported fighter jet engines. If these parallel developments come to fruition, India’s defense aerospace ecosystem may witness one of its most significant transformations since the "Tejas" fighter program. Combining indigenous engine development with foreign technological collaboration will significantly strengthen India’s aviation industry.
From the information revealed by this blogger, it is evident that Russia is showing great sincerity in seeking to win India’s military aircraft and engine contracts. Of course, India, too, is determined not to be dependent on others and is likely to restart the "Kaveri" project in the near future...
