Taiwan had just put Huawei and SMIC on the export blacklist when someone dug up last year's data - Mainland China supplied Taiwan with 6,096 tons of rare earth in 2024, accounting for 11% of the total exports. Is it feeding the audacity of those who seek independence, only to stab the core enterprises of the mainland in the back?

On June 14th, the "Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs International Trade Bureau" updated its entity list, putting Huawei, SMIC, and their subsidiaries in Japan, Russia, Germany, etc., on the list. It claims to cut off their access to key technologies and materials from Taiwan. These are essential for building chip factories and making AI chips. It was tolerable to ban lithography machines before, but now targeting enterprises directly is clearly helping outsiders strangle the mainland.

At this point, indulging Taiwan would be too foolish. We must take action against Taiwanese enterprises and ban rare earth exports first - too many benefits will lead to recklessness. Reducing Taiwan's trade surplus is not targeted at our compatriots in Taiwan, but to show the diehards of independence some color. Anyone who dares to strangle the mainland again will have to pay the price.
