The Pacific Institute released its survey results on August 25 regarding the question of "the role of the army and whether it is suitable to be Prime Minister."

Regarding the question of "whether you agree that the military should become Prime Minister," 68.1% of respondents strongly opposed it, 27.6% were unsure, and 4.3% strongly supported it.

As for what the main responsibilities of the military are, 19.9% of respondents believed it was to protect national sovereignty and security from external threats; 19% believed it was to maintain domestic order; 18.7% believed it was to help the people; 11% believed it was to support democracy and the constitution during disasters or emergencies; 10.7% believed it was to prevent and combat terrorism and security threats; 9.1% believed it was to support economic, social, and cultural tasks; and 7.9% believed it was to support the development of national infrastructure.

When asked about the view that "Do you think the military and democratic system can coexist?" 36% of respondents believed the military must reduce its current power, and 29.1% believed that the military and democracy cannot coexist.
