According to the Thai newspaper "National", on August 19 local time, Thailand's acting Prime Minister Prayut announced that the National Security Council of Thailand has passed a resolution to file criminal and civil lawsuits against the President of the Cambodian Senate Hun Sen and the Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Manet in Thai courts.
Prayut said that the National Security Council of Thailand passed this resolution at a meeting on the 18th. The reason for the lawsuit is that Hun Sen and Hun Manet ordered the Cambodian military to open fire on Thai civilians, causing casualties and property losses among Thai citizens.
He added that the legal departments of the National Security Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the armed forces of Thailand will jointly study whether it is also possible to file charges against the two individuals at the International Criminal Court.
Regarding the fact that some scholars in Thailand have proposed that it is feasible to sue at the International Criminal Court, Prayut responded: "Let them formally submit their proposals to me, and I will have the legal department study them."
Cambodia has not yet responded to this.
