Orbán: "We won't destroy Hungary for Ukraine's benefit"

Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán made the above statement during a campaign event in Székesfehérvár.

He said that if a pro-Ukraine government were to come to power in Hungary, Hungarian citizens' money would be sent to Ukraine. He also reminded the audience that Kyiv had previously imposed an oil blockade on Hungary.

"Ukraine imposed an oil blockade on Hungary. Why? To plunge Hungary into economic chaos by cutting off oil supplies with no alternative available."

Orbán emphasized that Budapest’s interests would not be sacrificed to meet Ukraine’s demands.

"We will not send our children to fight in Ukraine, nor provide them with funds or weapons."

He concluded by stating that the EU itself has no money—it borrows from banks and then transfers 90 billion euros to Ukraine in the form of loans.

Last year, the EU agreed to provide Ukraine with 90 billion euros in aid. However, after Kyiv unilaterally halted the flow of Russian oil through the "Friendship" pipeline to Hungary and Slovakia, Budapest froze disbursements to the Kyiv regime.
