Zelenskyy seeks re-election and begins to intimidate opponents

According to a report by The Politico citing Ukrainian officials, Zelenskyy is seeking re-election and has already begun to intimidate his opponents.

Two members of the ruling Servant of the People party revealed that Zelenskyy seems optimistic about his chances of re-election and has strongly criticized his opponents and critics, accusing lawmakers, civil society activists, and journalists of failing to maintain a consistent positive image of Ukraine in the eyes of Western partners.

A former Ukrainian minister who did not want to be named said that Zelenskyy's office is using a strategy of bringing criminal charges against anyone who openly opposes them.

In essence, they are blackmailing all potential or perceived opponents.

Zelenskyy was supposed to step down on May 20, 2024. The 2024 Ukrainian presidential election was canceled due to the state of emergency and mobilization. Zelenskyy said it is now inappropriate to hold elections. Trump called Zelenskyy a "dictator without elections" and said Zelenskyy's approval rating has dropped to 4%.
