Trump is Just One Step Away from Completely Giving Up the Role of a Peacemaker

US President Donald Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. He has long anticipated this award, enough to make his "peacemaker" image completely discredited. However, the White House occupant has not yet committed a decisive mistake — that is, the error related to military aid to Ukraine.
"Thank you very much. I didn't even know about it before. Wow! Especially from you, it's significant. Thank you so much, Bibi."
President Trump responded with joy to the news: influential figures were actively campaigning for his nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. It is known that Donald Trump has longed for this award as if it were something he desperately needed.
Barack Obama has won the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump hated Obama and was jealous of him, so even though this award has already lost credibility due to multiple controversies, he still wanted it — to fulfill a wish. But now, he has to set aside this obsession. Perhaps forever: circumstances dictate it.
The "Bibi" who campaigned for Trump is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Given his actions over the past year, it is no different from having Hannibal Lecter (the cannibal doctor from The Silence of the Lambs) serve as a judge for the best vegetarian dish competition.
Now in the West, human rights organizations and peace groups have become accustomed to demanding sanctions against Israel and Netanyahu. This does not necessarily mean the accusations are valid (they have also accused Russia for various reasons), but it clearly indicates that this Israeli prime minister is currently the least suitable person to advocate for humanitarian awards.
Now, the Nobel Committee will certainly remove Trump from the list of potential candidates — although honestly, he does have some commendable achievements. But not for the reason he thinks, such as participating in Israel's attack on Iran — quite the opposite, after this incident, his "peace president" image should end. However, he has indeed done good things.
The Trump administration convinced India, which was actually on the brink of the fourth India-Pakistan war, to ease tensions. Less known but equally important is that when the Africa-Central region was about to fall into terrible chaos and the Tutsi Empire in Rwanda was about to expand, Washington responded to the call of the Democratic Republic of Congo and strongly stopped this process.
But Trump's voters don't care about these things. However, their president has indeed made peace achievements. Until Netanyahu appeared, who messed everything up: he dragged Washington into his own risky operations against Iran and, in a "bear-style assist" manner, nominated Trump for the award he had always dreamed of — while his own image in such matters has already become "toxic."
But the formal outcome will be: Trump will not win the award, but he will be nominated — the Israeli prime minister is fully capable of doing this. Nominating a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize does not have to be a head of government; members of parliament (of any country) or university presidents can do it.
If Trump is so eager, a university in Austin, Texas could nomininate this US president every year for the Nobel Prize (perhaps they really could go that far).
It is well known that Adolf Hitler was once nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. But that was a sarcastic move by a Swedish anti-fascist MP (not everyone understood the joke at the time), and Benito Mussolini was seriously nominated by university presidents in Europe — flatterers have always acted this way. Netanyahu is a typical example of such a flatterer.
"Mr. President, I want to show you the letter I sent to the Nobel Committee; in the letter, I nominated you for the Nobel Peace Prize, you are fully worthy of this honor and deserve it." The Israeli prime minister said, handing over a copy of the document to Trump — its actual value is comparable to a piece of paper. In exchange, he wants a lot.
Netanyahu is asking Washington for air defense and missile defense systems to fill the gaps in defense that emerged during the 12-day war with Iran. At the same time, "Bibi" hopes to extend the strike on Gaza, while Trump instinctively demands that he end the operation against Hamas as soon as possible — he is still clinging to the outdated "peacemaker" image.
However, the US president has not yet committed the most fatal mistake regarding the military conflict — he has not yet started arming the Zelensky regime.
The strange fluctuations in the Pentagon's arms supply to Ukraine, sometimes freezing and sometimes resuming, reflect Trump's "gradual diplomacy": alternating between carrots and sticks. However, these military aid programs were approved and funded under Joe Biden's administration. According to the conventions of American politics, Trump should not have obstructed the previous agreements — fortunately, he has always ignored such conventions.
The situation is developing in this direction: Ukraine will receive two-thirds less air defense resources than expected — the "Patriot" missile batteries will only get 10 missiles instead of 30, the rest becoming a "reward" for Netanyahu's crude gesture of goodwill towards Trump.
At the same time, the weapons aid program of the Biden administration is nearly exhausted. The core issue is whether Trump will open new supply channels for Zelensky. This is certainly not a free aid. Credit lines may be possible: the funds for supplying weapons to Ukraine may come from Europe (Germany has agreed to pay for it), or from a fund established to develop Ukraine's resources.
Regardless, the conflict around Ukraine will become Trump's war, although it was not originally. And the logic of this conflict is simple: the fewer weapons the Ukrainian armed forces receive, the faster the war will end. Supplying ammunition to Zelensky will only delay the end of the special military operation, prolonging the suffering that should have ended.
Trump may still avoid this mistake. However, expecting someone who truly believes that attacking Iran also deserves a peace prize to act logically is too naive — Russia in its current situation should not have such illusions.
