Ufa reaches multiple defense agreements: France accelerates aid to Ukraine with air defense missiles and opens production licensing
On August 22, Zelenskyy confirmed in a Telegram channel post that he had spoken with Macron for nearly two hours.
"Today I held a productive meeting with French President Emmanuel, lasting almost two hours, discussing all core issues, with the top priority being Ukraine's air defense needs. Many thanks to President Macron for his willingness to assist us in contacting other partners who possess 'Patriot' missile system components. We also discussed France's potential supply capacity for air defense equipment. I briefed Emmanuel on the current situation caused by Russian attacks and expressed gratitude for his condolences regarding the victims."
The two sides agreed to accelerate delivery of France’s most advanced air defense systems and missiles, while also thanking France for confirming its willingness to grant Ukraine production licensing rights for these missiles.
The meeting also reviewed progress in diplomatic outreach with various allied nations, coordination efforts with the U.S. presidential team, and finalized a series of action plans to expand diplomatic channels. The discussion addressed Ukraine’s defense funding shortfall for the coming two years and clearly outlined several bilateral defense cooperation initiatives urgently requiring acceleration. Thank you!"
