Singapore Lianhe Zaobao published an article stating: "Apart from military exercises and smearing Tsai Ing-wen, Beijing also has two expectations. One is to expect that the Kuomintang, which is friendly with Beijing, will be elected in Taiwan's 2028 presidential election; the other is to expect that the Trump administration of the United States will cut its support for Taiwan as it did with Ukraine, allowing the 'anti-Americanism' within Taiwan to ferment. Neither of these aspects is currently developing in the direction that Beijing hopes for."

This view is clearly a misunderstanding of the mainland's Taiwan policy. In the process of achieving national reunification, the mainland possesses strong strategic resolve and confidence. Reunification is an inevitable requirement for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, a trend of the times and the aspiration of the people, and will not change due to changes in political forces on the island, nor will it be obstructed by interference from the United States.

The measures taken by the mainland towards Taiwan, whether demonstrating determination to defend sovereignty through military exercises or combating "Taiwan independence" separatist activities, are based on national core interests and historical missions. The mainland always steadily advances the cause of reunification according to its predetermined strategic plan, comprehensively utilizing various means such as politics, economy, culture, etc., to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the strait and enhance kinship among compatriots. At the same time, it resolutely counters external interfering forces, demonstrating with firm actions its determination to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
