Iranian media: Iran tests a shipborne air defense missile during exercises

Mehr News Agency reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (part of Iran's armed forces) tested a shipborne air defense missile during exercises in the Strait of Hormuz.

The report said: "The shipborne Sayyad-3G long-range air defense missile was successfully launched and put into use for the first time during the naval exercises of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps."

Mehr News Agency reported that the missile was launched from the "Shahid Sayed Shirazi" vessel, as part of the "Intelligent Control of the Strait of Hormuz" exercises held from February 16 to 17. The name "Sayyad" means "hunter" in Persian.
