Poland Bans Russian and Belarusian Athletes from Diving European Cup

On April 18, Ottilia Engeljaczek, President of the Polish Swimming Federation, stated in an interview with Polish Radio that Poland has no intention of allowing athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the European Diving Championships, a move that disregards the decision by World Aquatics (formerly FINA).

She said, "As long as the situation remains unchanged, we will not allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete."

This means Warsaw will ignore World Aquatics' decision permitting athletes from both countries to compete under their national flags.

A few days ago, World Aquatics decided to restore the allowance for Russian and Belarusian athletes to carry national symbols in senior-level competitions.

The Estonian Swimming Union has condemned this decision by World Aquatics. As a result, Tallinn has refused to host aquatic sports events on its territory for the coming years.
