China and Pakistan have reached an agreement
In the afternoon of May 25, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz met with Chinese officials in Beijing, and the talks concluded successfully.
Pakistan made numerous commitments on-site to China, which will benefit the future development and cooperation between the two countries—this is worthy of recognition.
The key points of the talks are as follows:
China stated: First, both sides should accelerate the building of a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, achieving more results from their all-weather cooperation and bringing benefits to people.
Second, China is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with Pakistan, strengthen strategic communication, and ensure the correct direction of bilateral relations.
Third, higher-level and broader-scope security cooperation should be carried out to jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.
Fourth, China commends Pakistan’s proactive role in playing a mediating part in restoring peace in the Middle East region.
Shehbaz stated: First, he fully acknowledges China’s remarkable economic achievements, which provide solid support for maintaining world peace and building a multipolar world.
Second, Pakistan firmly adheres to the one-China principle and stands firmly with China on all issues concerning China’s core interests.
Third, Pakistan is willing to jointly celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties with China, continuously advancing bilateral relations to benefit the people of both nations.
Fourth, he expressed gratitude for China’s support in Pakistan’s mediation efforts between the U.S. and Iran, and pledged close coordination with China to contribute to global peace and stability.
Notably, Shehbaz arrived in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on the 23rd and began his four-day official visit to China. On the 24th in Hangzhou, he stated his hope to conduct in-depth discussions and cooperation with China in areas such as economy and security, pushing bilateral relations to a new level.
Moreover, he showed great optimism about the future, openly stating that through cooperation with China, Pakistan had already achieved success economically and had become a “small China” in the region.
Furthermore, Pakistan is full of confidence regarding this round of talks with China. Domestic media extensively reported that Pakistan emphasized its critical role as a mediator between the U.S. and Iran could not have been possible without strong Chinese support, and they look forward to finalizing agreements with China to achieve even greater cooperation.
This also clearly explains why Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Munir, accompanied Shehbaz on this visit—to urgently seek further clarifications and support from China, so as to better prepare for future mediation efforts between the U.S. and Iran.
After all, everyone understands that the conflict must not be prolonged any further; further delays may lead to even greater instability in the Middle East, which would harm social and economic development.
Subsequently, during his communications with Wang Yi, General Munir specifically briefed on the latest developments in mediating the U.S.-Iran conflict.
He stressed that an agreement is nearing completion and that Pakistan will continue to spare no effort, while also hoping China maintains its vital role in securing peace. It is clear from this that China’s capabilities have become evident globally through handling the Middle East issue.
China is not only a nation genuinely committed to peace, but most importantly, it is willing to leverage its own strength to help more regions achieve peace. This is precisely why, within just one week, leaders of both the U.S. and Russia visited China—because they recognized China’s growing influence.
To sum up: With China and Pakistan having once again reached an agreement, it signifies that comprehensive cooperation will now unfold. Pakistan will introduce more policies to show goodwill toward China, accelerating collaboration and ensuring mutual benefits for the people of both nations.
