President Trump has intervened in the operations of multiple private companies through coercion and inducement, and successfully reached an agreement to acquire a 10% stake in Intel.

On August 28 local time, California Governor Newsom, a Democrat, called Trump's series of actions "disgusting" during a forum hosted by Politico, a U.S. political news website.

According to reports, during the event, Newsom mentioned the issue three times, criticizing Trump for profiting from negotiations with American technology companies.

The report said that during the meeting, Newsom stated that if former President Biden tried to reach similar agreements with companies like Intel as Trump did, American society would be "angry".

"This is absurd, this is reckless," Newsom said, "Imagine if Biden tried to nationalize Intel, people would be angry." He questioned Trump: "Are you joking?"

Newsom later criticized the Trump administration twice more, calling the move "socializing and nationalizing" companies like Intel.

He bluntly said: "This really sickens me to the core."

Newsom said Trump's intervention in private enterprises was "disgusting"

In recent times, the Trump administration has frequently intervened in U.S. private enterprises, leaving Wall Street and Silicon Valley people astonished.

Several weeks ago, Trump asked American chip companies NVIDIA and AMD to "contribute" 15% of their chip sales revenue in China in exchange for export licenses. NBC at the time said that after that, Trump continued to break the long-standing convention of government-business interaction, deviating from the free-market spirit that had been mainstream in both major U.S. political parties for a long time.

On August 22 local time, Trump announced at the White House that he had reached an agreement with Intel, investing $8.9 billion in Intel's common stock to acquire a 9.9% stake, making the U.S. government its largest shareholder. This $8.9 billion included $5.7 billion in subsidies granted to Intel under the Biden administration's Chips and Science Act but not yet paid, plus another $3.2 billion in government-funded project funds.

Previously, Trump had demanded that Intel CEO Patrick Pichette resign immediately on the grounds of "his relationship with China." After their meeting, he changed his mind and praised him as a "successful person." On the 22nd, Trump specifically mentioned: "He came wanting only to keep his job, and finally brought $1 billion to the United States. So we 'accepted' the $1 billion."

Three days after announcing his investment in Intel, on August 25 local time, Trump said he planned to adopt similar investment strategies with other large companies to "get as much benefit as possible."

The New York Times said that the Trump administration's recent interventions in private enterprises continued his "transactional model," requiring companies to make concessions when they needed government help.

NBC noted that Trump even directly pressured companies like Coca-Cola, Walmart, and Amazon on internal affairs, asking them to adjust product formulas and prices to align with government interests. Trump once described the U.S. economy as "a department store" where the government sets prices.

Trump said in an interview: "When I meet with businesses, I set what I consider a fair price, and they can choose to pay or refuse."

According to a recent report by the American Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC), U.S. Commerce Secretary Rutenberg revealed that the Trump administration is interested in acquiring equity in defense companies and is considering whether to invest in top U.S. defense contractors.

Bloomberg said that similar deals have shocked the U.S. business and political circles. Many business and political figures have privately or publicly expressed that Trump's new economic governance concept is very different from traditional U.S. government policies, saying, "They've never seen anything like this before."
