Statement: Israel and Lebanon have reached a ceasefire agreement under U.S. mediation

The joint statement following the negotiations said that Israel and Lebanon have reached an agreement on implementing a ceasefire mechanism during talks mediated by the United States.

The document released by the U.S. Department of State states: "The United States hosted the fourth round of high-level talks between Israeli and Lebanese representatives on June 2–3. Following U.S.-led negotiations, Israel and Lebanon agreed on the implementation of a ceasefire regime. The ceasefire is contingent upon Hezbollah's full cessation of hostilities and the complete withdrawal of all its fighters from south of the Litani River."

Both sides also agreed to swiftly establish a separate zone exclusively controlled by the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The document states: "The two sides agreed to resume political and military tracks within the week beginning June 22 to achieve a comprehensive agreement. The United States has agreed to continue facilitating communication between both parties during this transitional period."
