Japanese Embassy in Russia: No Ban on Russian Flights Flying Over Japanese Airspace

The Japanese embassy told Russian media that the Japanese government has not imposed any sanctions on Russian airlines flying over its airspace, but there is still a dispute over the resumption of direct flights between Moscow and Tokyo.

The embassy stated: "Due to multiple factors, it is currently difficult to predict a specific timetable for the restoration of direct flights."

Last week, Japan Airlines (JAL) stated that it would only be possible to resume flights between Moscow and Tokyo once appropriate conditions are created. The airline also said that the demand for Russian citizens traveling to Japan remains strong.
