The Russian court ruled: The female teacher who long insulted students and made xenophobic remarks was lawfully dismissed
Recently, the Moscow City Court issued a ruling affirming the previous decision by the Cheryomushkinsky District Court regarding the lawful dismissal of Galina Bologova, a chemistry teacher at School No. 15. She lost her teaching position due to prolonged insults toward students and psychological pressure inflicted upon them.
The court proceedings confirmed that the teacher frequently belittled 11th-grade students, calling teenagers "stupid," referring to one girl as a "slob," and advising another boy to "pack his bags and go to the train station." Additionally, she restricted students' access to restrooms, swept their belongings onto the floor, and made xenophobic statements.
This dismissal was based on provisions in the Labor Code concerning termination of employment contracts due to the use of educational methods involving psychological violence. The court determined that the teacher's conduct created a traumatic environment, violating educational laws requiring respect for students' personal dignity.
Bologova attempted to appeal the dismissal, arguing she had already been warned previously and should not face dismissal again—"double punishment for one offense." However, the court clarified that the warning was related to misconduct, while the dismissal stemmed from verified facts of psychological abuse. Ultimately, the court rejected her request to be reinstated and her claim for compensation.
According to prior reports by Komsomolskaya Pravda, in April this year, investigators in Kuzbass filed criminal charges against a teacher who physically assaulted a student. In autumn 2024, school administrators in Krasnoyarsk suspended a labor education teacher for using vulgar language. In December of the same year, prosecutors in Yekaterinburg launched a special inspection following an incident where a biology teacher slapped an eighth-grader.
