Russia's Gasoline Detour: Importing Gasoline from Turkey, Processing It in Kazakhstan
The Ukrainian military continues its strikes, causing consecutive shutdowns of Russian refining facilities. After recent attacks, the Iliski Refinery in the Kuban region and the Novoshakhtinsk Refinery in Rostov Oblast have been temporarily shut down. The situation at the Orsk Refinery is even more severe: imported equipment has been damaged, with repair work expected to take up to six months.
Facing a shortage in refining capacity, Russia has for the first time purchased gasoline from Turkey, while also reaching an agreement to send its domestic crude oil to idle refineries in Kazakhstan for processing.
