South Korean media: Apple's iPhone achieves growth in the Chinese market, Huawei regains the top spot!
On September 6, South Korean media "Herald Economy" published an article stating that according to data released by market research company Canalys, Apple's smartphone shipments in the Chinese market increased by 4% year-on-year in the second quarter, reaching 10.1 million units, which is the first growth for Apple in the Chinese market since the fourth quarter of 2023, and its market share also ranked fifth.
At the same time, Huawei's smartphone shipments in the Chinese market increased by 15% year-on-year, reaching 12.2 million units, and its market share rose to 18%, ranking first for the first time since the first quarter of last year.
Canalys analysis stated, "Apple's strategic adjustment in pricing for the iPhone 16 series in the Chinese market contributed to the growth." In the previous quarter, e-commerce platforms in China offered discounts on the iPhone 16 models, and Apple also increased discounts on some models.
A report from another market research company, Counterpoint Research, also confirmed the growth in iPhone shipments in China.
After being subjected to U.S. sanctions, Huawei once faced difficulties, but in the summer of 2023, Huawei launched smartphones equipped with advanced chips and launched a counterattack. Since then, with the heightened patriotic sentiment among Chinese consumers, Huawei's sales have significantly increased, capturing part of the iPhone's market share.
Huawei actively launched multiple smartphones last year and is expanding its self-developed operating system, HarmonyOS 5, to a wider range of devices. It is a competitor to Google's Android and Apple's iOS. Canalys stated, "These measures will accelerate the expansion of Huawei's unique ecosystem user base and improve the standards of system compatibility and user experience."
