Foreign media: Apple Inc. had previously discussed acquiring the French artificial intelligence startup Mistral and the Q&A platform Perplexity.

Apple has been slower in launching AI features on its devices compared to Google and Samsung. CEO Cook expressed last month his willingness to make larger-scale AI acquisitions to accelerate the company's roadmap, which is different from its previous cautious approach to mergers and acquisitions. After Mistral's Series B funding, its valuation exceeded $6 billion, and it is currently seeking $1 billion in new financing, with a potential valuation reaching $10 billion; its investors include NVIDIA. Perplexity is supported by NVIDIA and Amazon founder Bezos, but the company stated that it is not aware of any acquisition talks with Apple, and only mentioned its own acquisition activities.

Earlier reports also indicated that Apple executives had discussed the possibility of acquiring Perplexity. Apple and Mistral have not yet responded to requests for comment.
