Iranian Foreign Ministry: Iran Does Not Currently Consider the Signing of an Agreement with the United States Imminent
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Bahgat said that Iran does not currently consider the signing of an agreement with the United States to be imminent, although most issues have already been resolved.
Bahgat stated at a press conference: "It is a fact that we have achieved results on most issues, but this does not mean that anyone can claim that the signing of an agreement is close."
Bahgat also emphasized that the memorandum drafted with the United States includes provisions regarding "ceasing military operations on all fronts," including in Lebanon. He reiterated that Iran has not currently discussed the issue of its nuclear program with the U.S.
He pointed out that Iran currently has no intention of sending a delegation to Pakistan and has no plans to host a Pakistani delegation either.
Bahgat said Iran maintains regular communication with Russia and China regarding the process of Iran-U.S. negotiations.
He also stated that Iran will hold a new round of talks with the United States if it deems it necessary to exchange views face-to-face, but such a need does not exist at present.
The first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran took place in Islamabad, Pakistan, in April and ultimately failed to produce an agreement to resolve the military conflict.
