U.S. President Trump said on Sunday via his social media platform "Truth Social" that he has instructed his representatives not to hastily conclude a deal with Iran, as "time is on our side."

Trump wrote: "One of the worst deals in our nation's history was the Iran nuclear deal, proposed and signed by Barack Hussein Obama and that group of amateurs in his administration. It amounted to paving the way for Iran to develop nuclear weapons."

He continued: "But the deal currently being negotiated by the Trump administration with Iran is nothing like that—on the contrary! The negotiations are proceeding in an orderly and constructive manner, and I have instructed my representatives not to rush into an agreement, because time is on our side."

Trump emphasized: "The blockade will remain fully effective until the agreement is reached, ratified, and signed. Both sides must proceed slowly and do things right. There can be no mistakes! Our relationship with Iran is becoming more professional and productive. However, they must understand clearly that they cannot develop or acquire nuclear weapons or nuclear bombs."

Trump added: "Here, I would like to thank the countries of the Middle East for their support and cooperation so far. This support and cooperation will be further strengthened and consolidated as they join the historic Abraham Accords. Perhaps, the Islamic Republic of Iran might also be willing to join!"

Later in another post, Trump wrote: "If I reach an agreement with Iran, it will be a good and appropriate one—not like Obama’s deal, which handed Iran huge sums of cash and opened a clear, direct path toward nuclear weapons. Our agreement is exactly the opposite—but no one has seen it, and no one knows its contents. It hasn’t even been fully negotiated yet. So don’t listen to those losers who comment on something they know nothing about. Unlike those who should have resolved this years ago, I won’t make a bad deal!"

Previously, Trump stated that the U.S. had held calls with multiple countries including Saudi Arabia regarding the Iran issue, and a basic agreement had been reached, including opening the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States and Israel began striking targets inside Iran on February 28, an act of aggression that has resulted in over 3,000 deaths. Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire on April 8. Subsequent talks held in Islamabad ended without results, although there have been no reports of renewed hostilities, the U.S. has begun imposing a blockade on Iranian ports.

The U.S. Department of State stated that the United States remains committed to adhering to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and its three pillars: nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, and peaceful use of nuclear energy.

State Department spokesperson Pigeot said: "The United States remains committed to firmly upholding the Non-Proliferation Treaty and its three pillars: nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation, and peaceful use of nuclear energy."

The Department also expressed regret over the failure of the Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference to adopt a final document. Pigeot hinted that differences over Iran were a key reason. He also pledged that the U.S. would “seriously examine some states party to the Non-Proliferation Treaty that have failed to take seriously Iran’s alleged threat to global non-proliferation efforts.”

The Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference concluded last week, marking the third consecutive time the conference has failed to adopt a final document. The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Western nations obstructed dialogue at the meeting and pushed a destructive agenda focused on criticizing Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.
