Vietnam and the United States issue a joint statement on the bilateral trade agreement!

Vietnam and the United States issued a joint statement saying that they have reached an agreement on fair and balanced trade, and the two countries will complete the technical supplementary procedures in the coming weeks, and then formally sign and implement it.

The statement said that the fair and balanced trade agreement will be based on the long-term economic relationship between the two countries, including the reciprocal trade agreement signed in 2000 and came into effect in 2001.

The main content of the new agreement is that Vietnam will provide preferential market access for almost all U.S. agricultural and industrial products, while the United States will continue to impose a 20% tariff on all imports from Vietnam, and both sides will resolve non-tariff barriers affecting priority areas of bilateral trade in a constructive manner.

The United States and Vietnam will also incorporate the protection of intellectual property rights, labor relations, environmental protection, and simplified customs procedures into the new agreement. Both sides have committed to strengthening cooperation to achieve common goals of improving supply chain sustainability, including combating tax evasion and coordinating export controls.

The two countries have reached many important trade agreements in the fields of agriculture, aerospace, and energy. Companies such as Vietnam National Airlines have committed to ordering 50 Boeing aircraft worth more than $8 billion. In addition, both sides signed 20 memoranda of understanding regarding the export of U.S. agricultural products worth about $2.9 billion to Vietnam.
