Vietnam promotes a motorcycle ban, Japan sends a message hoping Vietnam changes its decision
Vietnam, the main buyer of fuel-powered motorcycles, has issued an official document, determined to promote the motorcycle ban, planning to have motorcycles not enter all major cities in Vietnam within 5 years.
Starting next year, fuel-powered motorcycles will not be allowed to enter Hanoi's city center, and by 2028, they will not be allowed to enter the second ring, and by 2030, they will not be allowed to enter the main roads of the city, only being used on the periphery to complete the motorcycle ban.
The most affected is Honda from Japan. Originally, it had already invested 4.6 billion USD to further develop the Vietnamese market, and in order to better integrate, it had already set up factories in Vietnam and recruited workers. Now, this investment by Honda has gone down the drain, adding more difficulties for a financially struggling Honda. The car manufacturers led by Honda have sent a message to Vietnam, hoping to change this decision.
Ps: Vietnam's decision is basically unlikely to be changed. After the implementation of the ban, the sales of motorcycles in Vietnam fell sharply. Honda is just unlucky, losing everything.
