Korean Media: 25% of Apple's iPhones Are Now Produced in India!

On April 5, South Korean media outlet Business Korea published an article stating that Apple significantly increased its iPhone production volume in India last year. Analysts suggest this move aims to reduce reliance on China, taking into account risks related to U.S. tariff policies.

Recently, Bloomberg cited sources saying that Apple produced approximately 55 million iPhones in India last year—a rise of about 53% compared to the previous year.

The share of iPhones manufactured in India has now increased to around 25% of total annual production.

Previously, Apple mainly produced iPhones at partner factories in China for global distribution.

However, after the Trump administration announced plans to impose additional tariffs on imported Chinese goods, the company began actively reducing its dependence on China and sought to lower costs by expanding manufacturing bases in countries including India.

These efforts quickly yielded results, leading to a significant increase in iPhone production at Apple’s Indian facilities.

Bloomberg analysis points out that incentive policies introduced by the Indian government to stimulate manufacturing have helped Apple offset cost disadvantages and boost domestic production.

According to reports, Apple is currently producing all of its latest iPhone 17 series models in India.

Previously, Indian factories primarily manufactured more affordable models; this shift marks a strategic change for Apple.

Bloomberg added that Apple is also strengthening cooperation with local Indian component suppliers and is committed to localizing production.
